A very jubilant Xtra Hype
Two groups stood forward on stage before the MC and audience. The MC ask the crowd a simple question, "If I tell you who won second place, would you know who the winner is?" The now small crowd did not shout yes nor no, but "Xtra Hype" and so it was. This Year's Community Independance Festival winner is the Bush Hall, St. Micheal North Zone dance group Xtra Hype.
Earlier in the evening these seven youngsters brought the house down. During the act there was an almost carnival like atmosphere as fans flooded the aisles almost making a surge to the stage. There were cheers at every transition and new move performed by the Bush Hall group. The dance, a call for Caribbean unity, took popular moves from Jamaica, Trinidad and Barbados and blended them in what can only be called a crowd pleasing Caribbean "cook up" served hot.
I left xtra Hype, fans and well wishers at the gymnasium in a state of euphoria. To you guys I say congratulations.
Runners up were- first runner up Demolition Squad and second runner up, Restoration World Changers. Tomorrow I will review the show, including taking a look at the junior winners Olos.

i 1st to comment here yea that is de number 1 group in bim i knew from that night they were goin to win dem my guys a group me and my buddy started couples years ago if wunna want o kno who i am i am groovy from xtra hype big up my guys,haters back off. Kudos to demolition and world changers.

I remember a certain body say that xtra hype is not in his top 5 and he dont feel we int gine but we proove he wrong the body kno who i mean int even put the video for xtra hype at combermere every other group get them video up now probably gotta wait a another decade for xtra hype vido to get put but we gine see peace

The guys did well, brought the house down and pulled it off. Again congrats.
If you were listening carefully at the Gym you would understand the video thing, so doh behave so. I'm working on the video from the finals, before fans buss muh head.
The real cahllenge is to come. Who will be # in the region? Think it will be xtra hype?

Congrats to xtra hype for a good performance.......but in my opinion there were'nt the best act of the nite.They came with popular songs and familiar dance moves marketed for a generation in they age group(25 and under).I enjoyed they performance mainly for they song choices but honestly I can't remember what the dance piece was about.My only question is "what was the judges criteria .... is it a roaring crowd applause !!!!!!!!!
that a group who barely place in the top two in the semis ,came out ahead of other impactful group.....
D.squad,worldchargers,hynosis,new era,adrenalin???????? To the judges,committee,chief technical advisor.........i think you need to go back to the drawing board and re-think the judging system.please comment if you can?
i don't know the judges criteria because i am not a judge.All i know is that xtra hype was the best dance group ON THE NITE.Their choice of popular songs and familiar dance moves was not soly to them, other groups such as the ones you mentioned did the same and the crowd roared as well.Do not be a hater because you small mindedness has caused you to be blind to the whole concept of the dance.the show is called indepenDANCE and not indepeDRAMA lots of groups tried to show they messages with video and talking except for xtra hype and d. squad.Could that be the reason they came out on top? Hmmmmmmmm? Whatever you think xtra hype brought it on the nite the were sharp,hip,and extremly pleasing to the eye in their all over white.So rest yah slf and stop checking for xtra hype cause dem ain't even studying you.

Hi Anonymous, it is great to see that you can count, but before I test if can make it to 20, I figure that I should explain that like you I am also waiting.
The basic video posted on this blog was taken by me for just this purpose, blogging. In my opinion it made sense to share the highlights of the dance festival with all and sundry. However, I was not the one responsible for video, nor for that matter, stills photography for the National Finals.
I have inquired about both stills and video to share with you all and was told neither still nor video is yet available. So like you I'm also waiting.
Maybe you would have better luck calling the Community Development Department and making your inquiry.
